2011 Spring and Summer Trends: Back to the Basics.

Once again, we asked designers and media heavy hitters to give their thoughts on how men will keep their look cool during the summer months.

They had some smart insights.

Less is more. Get back to basics. Go with the fabrics that never go out of style. Keep the colors simple. Think biker styling, with a tailored silhouette. Tough. Urban. Subversive.

Three looks. Each in tune with summer.
Wherever clothing trends go, hairstyles are never far behind. The three looks here are anchored in tradition and masculinity, but make a statement.

Classic Rolls
The aim for this look is a structured finish, with the hair in front brushed into tight rolls and kept firmly in place with product. Only use product on this section of the hair, leave the rest product-free.

Wash and condition with American Crew 3-in-1. Towel-dry thoroughly, then apply a generous amount of American Crew Boost Cream. When applying, work outward, from scalp to ends. Finger comb the front off the face and smooth the sides with the palm of your hand. Blow dry directing the hair upward, off the face. Once dry, finish with a moderate amount of Boost Powder to the top of the head. This weightless powder adds grit and gravity-defying texture.

Windswept Waves
The goal here is a relaxed look, with very little product so the hair can bounce and move. The wavy roll-backs, brushed away from the face to one side, bring in a classic feel.

Get the products: American Crew 3-in-1, American Crew Classic Curl Construct
Start with American Crew 3-in-1. Towel dry. Next, apply a generous amount of American Crew Curl Construct. Start at the scalp and work to the tips. Curl Construct can hold even the boldest of curls. Use hands to shape the desired style. Once satisfied with the look, dry completely. Then carefully break up the hair-be sure not to mess up the curls. Don't go overboard, instead let the inconsistencies and other imperfections enhance this style's natural look.

Wet and Gelled
The ever-popular wet look returns. The desired result is a shiny finish that appears to be dripping wet. Some part to the side, others brush straight back. The trick is to layer gel on to the hair, combing through with a fine-tooth comb to create a slick and smooth look.

Get the products: American Crew 3-in-1, American Crew Superglue
For optimal balance of moisture and cleansing, begin with American Crew 3-in-1. Thoroughly towel-dry hair and apply a generous amount of American Crew Superglue, working it in from scalp to ends. Use a comb to evenly spread the Superglue all through the hair. Create the shape by combing hair over to the sides and off the face. Let hair dry naturally. Avoid blow-drying.
